Stradivari
The Stradivari Mk II is now under way in the UK. Trevor Jenkins
and his mates in Liverpool are setting up a local production in West Kirby
Wirral, in the Liverpool area.
Data Stradivari Mk II: LOA; 4,400 m. W; 0,860 m. DPL; 290 kg.
The Stradivari
Mk I design is now the property of the Swedish 2,4 mR association. The moulds
are at disposal for anybody to rent and build their own boat. If you are interested
the rental is administrated by Malmsten Boats who also will help the builder
with advice.
The Stradivari was introduced as a prototype in 1997 and has been produced
in female moulds since 1998.
She was designed by Hasse Malmsten and has sprung from his many years of experience
from building and sailing the Norlin mk III and other designs in the class.
She is regarded as a top performer and has produced many top results since
her introduction.
The combination of less wetted surface together with top numbers for her righting
moment (RM) and well-distributed displacement assures top speed in all conditions.
Results so far are nr. 2, 3 and 5 in single races in the WC 1999 in Marstrand
with Patrik Wennerström at the helm in SWE 362.
In Norway Björnar Erikstad won the last ranking regatta of 1999 and was second
over all in the ranking series 1999.
WC 2000 in Melbourne Bo Hedensjö was no. 11 in SWE 380. WC 2001 Hasse Malmsten
was no.10 in SWE 385. 2,4 Grand Prix 2001 regatta in Gothenburg was won by Jan
Bengtsson in SWE 380. In 2002 SWE 380 has kept the pace with good results in
the Swedish ranking.
