The Backman 21 has been nominated for sportsboat of the year 2004, in europe by the major yacht magazines on the continent. She has been sailed extensively since july and has exeeded our high expectations. Max speed achieved so far is 22 knots down wind and 8 knots upwind. Well known fast boats like the Melges 24 are definitely in trouble here.
